Biography

San Francisco indie-rock group L’Avventura, was born when guitarist/vocalists Jeff Davis and Fergus Griffin met while busking in the London Underground.  The two expatriate troubadours spent their days thawing the hearts of grumpy commuters in the noisy Kings Cross Station, and quickly bonded over a mutual love of Roxy Music,  T-Rex and Nick Drake.

In 2005, the pair relocated to San Francisco, and began songwriting in earnest, amassing demos for over 150 new tunes!  By 2006 they had formed a 7-piece ensemble, dubbing it L’Avventura, and performing live in art galleries and house parties up and down the west coast.  During 2007-08, L’Avventura recorded its debut, “Your Star Was Shining”, with the help of some Bay Area music friends, including producers Bond Bergland and Jeff Saltzman (Two Gallants, The Killers) and drummer Michael Urbano (Cake, The Lovemakers, Maldroit).

“Your Star Was Shining” is a gloriously tuneful collection of rock-songs with an emphasis on songwriting and sonics.  “Swandive” thumps with a cool T-Rex swagger, while “Nightmare Blues” pulses like Jimmy Reed meeting Stereolab at the crossroads.  “Olivia” finds Brian’s Eno and Wilson in a wild surf-battle, while Nick Drake conjures the Fool On The Hill in the acoustic gem, “Rocket Sue”
